he Municipal Historic Archive of Taxco is a documental repertory of historic, linguistic and social writings made up of more than 400 thousand documents dating from 1666 up to the end of the 20th century.
This patrimony, the most important one in all Guerrero State due to its size, is safeguarded by UNAM since 1997. Its custody was formally declared in 2010 by means of an agreement between UNAM and the Taxco de Alarcón´s City Council.
Due to the importance of its content, in coordination with Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia, CEPE,UNAM,Taxco campus, have worked since 2009 on rescuing, preserving and digitalizing of such a historic patrimony. Up to date, about 1498 images have been taken out of 707 documents.
This extraordinary documental fund, its original documents and images are available for teachers, researchers and students who wish to see them and it constitutes an invaluable entrance to the history and life of Taxco.
